Just Design It!

So you've been roaming up and down aisles for three hours searching for the perfect shoe and haven't found it yet. This could be so much easier if you could just design it yourself, you think. Oh wait...you can!

Yes thanks to innovative use of technology, marketing and outside-the-box retail strategy, Nike (along with others) have figured out how to use technology to continue the new wave of product customization that's sweeping the nation. Their product, your way equals the ultimate in customer satisfaction.

So what will this do for us as customer's? Will we settle for products manufacturers and retailers ship to us or will we be increasing drawn to those businesses who allow us make their products our own before we buy?

Great pic! It will be interesting to see if Nike makes money doing this. I love it but am really not sure I am within their target market.

I was inspired to custom make this T-shirt on-line(dugcanread.blogspot.com).

Nice Pic and interesting concept… but am really doubtful how far Nike will be successful? I am really curious to see some facts on sales using this method. Most of the people I know want to see/try before they buy anything especially in the case of shoes they are very careful because improper fitting cause foot problems. In my own experience, once I brought online that was right size but it did not suit my feet and that caused me some headaches to replace it. So the question to Nike is how would they handle this type of problems?

Interesting topic. It's crowdsourcing in a way- the public comes up with new designs that suit them- and in the process- perhaps a new hit style that turns into a best seller in the high schools. It seems to me that this raises some Intellectual Property issues- who owns the new design?
